Abstract
516,072. Dry shavers. AMERICAN SAFETY RAZOR CORPORATION. June 20, 1938, No. 18240. Convention date, June 22, 1937. [Class 131] The outer shear plate A of a'dry shaver has two or more slotted cutter parts 20, separated by a depressed portion 14, the reciprocating cutter B. being correspondingly shaped with two or more slotted parts 22. Spring- pressed cups 42, urge the cutting areas into contact, other parts being separated by a clearance. The two sets of slots on opposite sides of the depression 14 may have different characteristics; thus, one set may be designed for coarse shaving and the other for close shaving, or the slots of the two sets may be staggered, oi of different widths and differently spaced. The angular formation of the shear plate and cutter shown in Fig. 4 may be replaced by a curved formation. Figs. 6 and 7 show a modification with two sets of sheai plate cutting teeth 63 co-operating with two sets of teeth 80 on a U-shaped reciprocating cutter G, the teeth 80 having projecting flared tips To remove the cutter G, the shear plate is swung about a pivot at one end. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 507,758.
