Abstract

508,151. Adjustable seats. CHESTON, A. S., and CORBER, F. H. Aug. 18, 1938, Nos. 24299 and 26530. [Class 52, (ii)] An adjustable seat, e.g., a vehicle seat, is supported by links 3, 4 pivoted to the seat and to a base 6, and is adjusted vertically and in a forward and rearward direction by a screw device 8 operating on an angularly movable controlling device or link 14 pivoted to one part, and slidably connected to the other part. The device may comprise, e.g., a screw 8 mounted on the seat frame 1 and engaging an internally threaded tube 11 which is rotatably secured to a. cross bar 12. The ends of the bar 12 slide in guide channels 13 on the seat frame and are rigidly fixed to the adjusting links 14 which are pivoted at the lower ends to the base 6. The latter may be slidable in guides 7 and retained in position by a latch. In a modification the cross, bar 12 slides in guides on the base, and the links 14 are pivoted to the seat frame.
