Abstract

500,684. Vehicle bodies. DAIMLERBENZ AKT.-GES. April 14, 1938, No. 11498. Convention date, April 14, 1937. [Class 108 (i)] To enable a motor vehicle of normal construction to be converted into a streamlined vehicle, streamlined sheathing, consisting wholly or in part of transparent material, is provided and is adapted to be placed over the whole or a part of the vehicle and releasably connected to the body. The sheathing may be foldable and in sections. In one form, Fig. 1, sheathing b, comprising a hinged rear portion f and side openings which may becovered by flaps e, is placed over the whole vehicle, a grille c being provided for the entry of cooling air. In a second form, Fig. 4, the sheathing consists of front and rear parts k, i, the front part k covering the radiator m and front wings n and having side portions o spaced from the bonnet sides and extending approximately to the wall p of the body. Cooling'air enters through a grille r and leaves via slots in the bonnet sides and the spaces between the portions o and the latter. Other forms are described in which the sheathing extends over the top of the bonnet from the radiator to the wall p or over the whole front of the vehicle.
