[Class 137] A ventilating roof for a saloon car is formed with a longitudinal compartment or tunnel having an inlet at one end from the interior of the car, and an outlet at the rear, and the tunnel widens towards the rear. The degree of ventilation is regulated by a vertical flap a hinged at one end and movable from within the car.
