496,823. Motor - bonnet fastenings. RUSSELL & SONS, Ltd., S., and RUSSELL, E. G. July 17, 1937, No. 19822. [Class 44] A hook fastening for motor-vehicle bonnets comprises a one-piece body 1, preferably diecast with integral attachment lugs 2 and screws 3 by which it can be secured to the bonnet,the body having a longitudinal groove 7 continuing into a slot 5 with a lateral branch 6 at its lower end, a sleeve 8 slidable within the body and having a projection 10 slidable in the groove &c. 7, 5 and engageable in branch 6 by rotation to retain the fastening in release position, a stem 11 secured within the sleeve as by a pin 14, the stem having a hook 12 engageable with a stirrup 13 on the chassis and projections 16 which limit the stem's upward movement, and a compression spring 15 housed within the sleeve and body, the spring abutting against the upper end of the sleeve and the lower end of the body to urge the hook upwards into engagement with the stirrup.
