Abstract

491,389. Valve amplifying circuits. SCOPHONY, Ltd., and JEFFREE, J. H. March 11, 1937, No. 7167. [Class 40 (v)] In a wideband amplifier operated from an alternating current supply an even number of valve stages is employed and the couplings of each stage are so chosen that the lower part of the frequency range, including at least the frequency of the supply, is amplified in the odd numbered stages and in the even stages the amplification of this frequency range is reduced to unity to remove hum. The overall gain of the system is arranged to be substantially the same for all parts of the frequency range. The Figure shows a valve 1 having a gain at one megacycle of 10 increasing to 100 at lower frequencies. The valve 2 at one megacycle also has a gain of 10 but at lower frequencies the gain is reduced to 1À4 at 100 kilocycles and to 1 at lower frequencies. The Specification gives the values for the components used in the couplings.
