Abstract

480,417. Valve amplifying circuits. PHILCO RADIO & TELEVISION CORPORATION. June 3, 1937, No. 15440. Convention date, July 3, 1936. [Class 40 (v)] In a high-frequency amplifier a signal of opposite phase to that applied to the control grid is applied to a second grid which has a greater capacitance to the anode than has the control grid. The ratio of the amplitudes of the signal applied to the two grids.is preferably inversely proportional to the capacities between the respective grids and the anode. The Figure shows a pentode with a tertiary winding L3 on the input transformer connected to the suppressor grid. The invention is applicable to signal or intermediate frequency amplifiers and enables high gain to be obtained with stability and renders the dynamic input admittance substantially zero. The high impedance input and output circuits which are employed cause the change in the input capacity of the valve consequent on change in bias to vary tuning so'that selectivity is reduced as stage gain is reduced.
