Abstract

488,870. Discharge apparatus. LORENZ AKT.-GES., C. Jan. 15, 1937, No. 1301. Convention date, Jan. 16, 1936. [Class 39 (i)] In a discharge tube in which an electrode forming part of the vessel wall is sealed with vessel wall parts of insulating- material, the main body A of the electrode is connected by an annular metallic connecting portion W to a tubular metallic sealing portion P which surrounds the main body of the electrode and also parts W2, W3 of the wall to which it is sealed at its end remote from the portion W by a seal S of molten material. The portion W may have cooling fins. In the form shown, the portions W1, W2, W3 are of ceramic material; the parts W1 and W2 are connected by the ring Q which acts as a support for the grid G and also as one plate of a condenser formed by dielectric 4 and the outer ring 2. The electrode A is the anode. A glass cap U closes the end of the member W3 and has an exhaust tube u. The molten material S is glass or ceramic glaze. The members W1, W2, W3 are ground so as to contact intimately with the ports P, Q.
