Abstract

490,627. Sealing lead - in wires into ceramic vessels. LORENZ AKT.-GES., C. Aug. 12, 1937, No. 22219. Convention date, Aug. 18, 1936. [Class 36] [Also in Group- XL] A discharge tube has a vessel the wall: of which comprise ceramic parts 3, 4 an electrode system G, K within the vessel leads 2 connected t( the system and ex tending through the wall in one place normal to the axis of the system, anc seals 9, 12, 13 to hold the leads in place disposed between two of the ceramic wal parts. In the fom shown, the cathode K and grid G are supported within cop per external anode A, the extension E being sealed to a ceramic tube 3. The upper of edge of 3 has U-shaped recesses into which are sealed at 12 correspondingly shaped ceramic tubes 7 into which the leads are sealed at 9. To the top of 3 is sealed at 13 the ceramic part 4. The pieces 7 may be round or rectangular instead of U-shaped. The seals 12, 13 are made of material having a lower melting point than the seals 9, 10, 14, so that the sealing of 3 to 4 can be carried out in a furnace without destroying the remaining seals.
