Abstract

Magnetic dust for inductance coil cores may comprise an alloy of 80 per cent of nickel and 20 per cent of iron, or 95 per cent of iron and 5 per cent of silicon, the iron being obtained by reduction of the oxide in hydrogen. The alloy may be formed by heating a mixture of its constituents or a mixture of oxides or other reducible compounds of the constituents, this heating also forming one step in a process for obtaining dust of a given grain size. Specifications 423,823 and 456,739 are referred to.
