Abstract

474,679. Fusible cut-outs. WEEKES (LUTON), Ltd., L., and DRYDEN, T. H. May 4, 1936, No. 12579. [Class 38 (i)] In a cartridge fuse, a plunger e, biassed by a spring g is retained, in the position shown, by a fuse wire h, passing through holes j in the walls of a cylinder d, and fastened to two stouter conductors l connected to end caps b closing an outer casing a. Upon fusion of the wire h, the plunger e is urged forward by the spring g to extinguish the arc, the gases formed by the arc passing through the holes j into the space c filled with arcquenching powder. A number of fuse-units d may be used in parallel, series, or seriesparallel in one cartridge.
