Abstract

520,452. Ventilators. JOHNSTON, N. F., and MARSHALL, J. Oct. 22, 1938, Nos. 30606 and 36281. [Class 137] In an air directing ventilator of the kind comprising a sphere a with a passage b therethrough and rotatable in an annular ring c, the two ends of the Dassage are of different diameter and in the larger end of cup like formation e is arranged a disc valve i adjustable longitudinally to control the air flow through the passage. In Fig. 1, the air issues through the narrower end at high velocity but by reversing the sphere as in Fig. 2, air issues from the larger end of the passage at low velocity and by adjustment of the valve i in its supporting spider g the direction of the issuing air can be varied. A scroll louvre q of helical formation as in Fig. 6, may be provided so arranged that the convolutions may be drawn together by movement of spindle r as described in Specification 396,468.
