470,163. Oil engines. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT.-GES. Jan. 2, 1937, No. 129. Convention date, Jan. 3, 1936. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii)] Starting is facilitated by the temporary provision of a direct path between the main and precombustion chambers by operation of a rotary, or sliding, throttling member d which is mounted without contact with the hot walls of the chamber. The member has a passage g in line with the fuel jet and it is rotatable about a bearing l to close the passage g and bring into action flats on its opposite sides. In the alternative form it comprises a pin-like member mounted on a screw thread so as to be withdrawn on rotation. The member is preferably mounted in place of the incandescent plug and, in a multicylinder engine, members on separate cylinders are connected to be rotated together or stepwise.
