439,744. Sliding -- clasp fastenings. BENNETT, J. P., 34, Jakeman Road, Balsall Heath, HAPPOLD, E. C., 24A, Harborne Road, Edgbaston, both in Birmingham, and LIGHTNING FASTENERS, Ltd., Imperial Chemical House, Millbank, London. June 13, 1934, No. 17536. [Class 44] A fastening of the kind in which a series of elements on each of two stringer tapes are brought into engagement by a slider and in which the stringer tapes can be completely separated has flexible reinforcing material not forming part of the tape but serving to strengthen the tape adjacent to the separable fitting members and to secure such fitting members. For separable fitting members consisting of socket and pin members 13, 8 the pin member 8 is formed by sheet metal plating bent over the beading 6 of the stringer tape 4 and having flat extensions with apertures 9 through which a tape 10 is passed to be secured to the stringer tape 4 by an adhesive or by sewing. An extension 11 of the stringer tape 4 may be doubled back and sewn over the tape 10.
