[Class 83 (iv)] The roll stands A, B of a continuous mill are set at 90‹ to each other and each housing with its rolls 5, 6, can be adjusted transversely to the work, e.g. by a screw 12 which slides its housing up or down the bed 1. An electric motor 13 drives the roll 5 which, through belt or pulleys 14 and 15, or cable or friction wheel drives its co-operating roll 6, the drive being insufficient during working, so that the top roll acts as a trailing pressure roll only. Fig. 2 shows a belt drive from one roll pulley 14, to the other pulley 15, the tension being adjustable by an adjustable weight 20. The rolls may also be adjustable along their shafts to align the pass.
