Abstract

[Class 7 (ii).] In an engine having several lines of cylinders cooling air enters at one end of the space 4 between the lines of cylinders, which space is kept clear of exhaust piping by arranging the exhaust passages 1 parallel to the cylinder axes. The sides 6 of the cylinders are streamlined to facilitate the flow of air, and the parts of the heads near the sparking plugs are further cooled by air diverted from a casing 10 to passages 7 in the heads.
