Abstract

416,052. Elastic valves. HUGHES, H. S., Holford, Green Lane, Windsor, Berkshire. March 6, 1933, No. 6688. [Class 135.] In a valve of the kind having a cylindrical rubber or like valve member 4 arranged to close an axial orifice 8 and subsequently by lateral expansion of the rubber, a lateral orifice 7, the valve member 4 is fixed to a metal carrier 11 rotatably mounted on the end of an actuating spindle 2 so that when the member 4 is compressed and takes up the clearance 6 between itself and the valve casing, the spindle 2 may still be rotated independently. The carrier 11 has an undercut slot 12 engaged by a disc 13 on the end of the screwed actuating spindle 2. According to the Provisional Specification, the valve member 4 may have a short spindle entering the actuating spindle in the same way as the ordinary jumper.
