Abstract

293,394. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Steenstrup, C.). July 5, 1927, [Convention date]. Ball and float valves. - The float-controlled expansion valve 15 of a compression refrigerating machine may be manually opened as required to clear the valve and the valve seat of any grit &c. The float 16 is guided on a spindle 20 which is supported in a block 23 at the base of the float chamber and guided in a fitting 24 at the top. Normally the spindle is held depressed against the action of a compression spring 26 abutting against a disc 25 by a screw 28 in the member 24, but when this screw is slacked back the disc 25 engages the sleeve 21 of the valve lever 17 and lifts the float to open the valve, grit being then blown through with the refrigerant.
