Abstract
415,332. Hydraulic transmission of power. KREISSLE, H., 63, Oberhauserstrasse, Ansbach, Mittelfranken, Bavaria, Germany. Feb. 7, 1934, No. 4052. Convention date, Dec. 21, 1933. [Class 69 (ii).] In hydraulic power transmission apparatus comprising a torque transformer and a coupling, means are provided whereby power can be transmitted solely through the transformer, or the transformer can be caused to act as a coupling, power then being transmitted both through it and the coupling. In one form, the guide wheel 14, Fig. 1, of the transformer 4 may be coupled to a fixed member by a friction clutch 15 operated by a servomotor 16, the coupling 5 being then free from the driven shaft 2, so that power is transmitted solely through the transformer. Alternatively, the guide wheel may be freed to rotate, the coupling 5 being then connected to the driven shaft by a friction clutch 13 operated by a servomotor 17. In a modification, the transformer is caused to act as a coupling by moving the guide wheel axially, so that a bladeless portion thereof is then in the circuit. In another form, the guide wheel of the transformer is either looked to the turbine wheel or to a stationary member in accordance with variations in the action of the liquid on the guide wheel. The guide wheel 14 has a shaft 27, Fig. 4, carrying a nut 28 having dogs 31, 32 co-operating with claws on a member 29 fixed to the turbine and on a fixed member 30. The nut 28 also operates a valve 34 controlling the servomotor of the clutch 13, and supports spring-mounted clutch members 41, 41<1> coacting with coned surfaces on the members 29, 30.
