[Class 114] Two engines a, b, and an intermediate 'pinion shaft c in line therewith connectable thereto by clutches d which have circular plates formed with V-grooves pressed together for driving engagement by oil under pressure. Flexible couplings may be interposed to compensate for misalignment. The shaft c has pinions g g' gearing respectively with ahead and astern pinions h, h<2> on the driving shaft i and connectable thereto by clutches similar to clutch d.
