Abstract

399,858. Fuel-injection pumps. BRYCE, Ltd. and SIDNEY, A. A., 36, Chipstead Avenue, Thornton Heath, Surrey. April 12, 1932, No. 10433. [Class 102 (i).] In a fuel-injection or other pump pressure in the discharge passage 7, after the discharge valve 1 closes, is prevented by means of a piston relief valve 10. The valve 10 works in the bore of a bush 9, which is secured in a casing 18 by means of a screwed plug 11 formed with through passages 12. The piston 10, which is acted on by a spring 13, uncovers blind-ended grooves 15 and permits return of oil to the compression chamber 6 through ports 20 in the casing 18 and a passage 17. In a modification the valve 10 is arranged inside the discharge valve 1, which is hollow.
