395,900. Stencil-printing apparatus; inking-apparatus. DEHN, F. B., 103, Kingsway, London.-(Heyer Corporation; 901, West Jackson Boulevard, Chicago, U.S.A.) Sept. 27, 1932, No. 26844. [Class 100 (ii).] In a flat stencil-duplicator, yieldable means is provided for supporting the stencil in spaced relation to a base the stencil being flexed to bring portions thereof progressively into printing contact with a copy sheet on the base. As shown, a stencil 46, an ink pad 47, and an impervious cover sheet 48 are attached, as described below, to bars 34, 33, the former being slipped into slots 35 in the side members 21 of a rectangular frame hinged at 26 to a base 20, and the latter riding in slots 32 ; spring-pressed plungers 36, Fig. 5, engaging the bar 33 one at each end thereof stretch the stencil &c. taut. Printing is effected by means of a hand or mechanically actuated roller 56, the stencil being flexed as shown so that rolling line contact is provided ; the roller 56 has a corrugated or other irregular surface to ensure its rotation. The cover sheet 48 is folded over the side edges of the ink pad 47 and is stitched thereto, and the pad is looped at each end over the bars 33, 34 and is secured by clips 52, 55. The stencil is provided at one end with keyhole slots engaging studs on the slip 52 and is secured at the other end by the clip 55.
