Abstract

393,796. Stop valves. BOWLER, T., 396, Windsor Road, North Vancouver, Canada. Aug. 13, 1932, No. 22744. [Class 135.] In a valve having a tapered seat member 11 engaging a correspondingly tapered aperture 10 in the dividing wall 2, a ball closure member 9 carried bv the valve spindle 7 contacts the annular seat member to secure it in position, the arrangement permitting slight disalignment between the axis of the spindle 7 and the axis of the aperture 10 so as to obtained perfect seating of the valve. The seat member 11 is doubly tapered so that it may be reversed and is threaded internally for removal bv the insertion of a threaded bolt which contacts the bottom wall 5 of the valve body. In an alternative method of removal, the head of the bolt abuts a washer positioned over the end of the threaded neck 6. Recesses 14 at the ends of the seat member are bevelled at 15 to engage the ball 9. The latter is loosely held by a claw 8 on the screwed spindle 7.
