Abstract

391,835. Valve gear; regulating. FRANKS, E. A., 5, Caegwyn Road, Whitchurch, Glamorgan. Nov. 5, 1931, No. 30723. [Class 7 (vi).] A valve 20 admitting fuel to the pump 28 for delivery by a valve 30 and passage 32 to the cylinder, and a valve 24 admitting air to the cylinder, are actuated respectively by tappets 18, 22 engaging a lever 15 which is actuated by a reciprocating member 6 having a projection 5 engaging a projection 1 on a rotary shaft 2. The timing of the fuel and air valves is regulated by an eccentric 13, which moves the projection 5 more or less away from the projection 1, the member 6 sliding in a bush 7 pivoted at 8 to allow of this. The fuel valve 20 closes as the air valve 24 opens, and the fuel and air are preferably delivered to the injection apparatus described in Specification 394,676. The pump 28 is preferably that described in Specification 375,813, [Group XXVIII].
