Abstract

386,363. Window fastenings and holders. COOPER, J. A., 34, Railway Road, and CLARKE, C. R., 46, Somerset Road, both in Teddington, Middlesex. Sept. 18, 1931, No. 26136. [Class 44.] A window catch comprises a pivoted cam-piece B controlled by a spring E and mounted between upstanding ears G on a bracket C secured to the top surface of the meeting rail of the bottom sash. The cam-piece is formed with a series of teeth adapted to engage with either one or the other of two sets of rack or louvre teeth on a rack piece fixed to the upper sash to retain said sash either in the closed or open positions. The spring E bears on the bracket C and passes round the pivot and bears on the top side of the cam-piece B. The teeth on the cam-piece are disposed with a pitch equal to that of the rack teeth. The sets of teeth are placed one at each end of the rack piece so as to be at the top and bottom of the upper sash.
