Abstract

384,472. Pumps. SOC. RATEAU, 40, Rue du ColisÚe, Paris. Feb. 4, 1932, No. 3384. Convention date, Feb. 10, 1931. [Class 7 (ii).] A gas turbine a is mounted directly on the exhaust ports e, e<1> of two adjacent parallel cylinders c, c<1> of an engine, with its axis at right angles to the axis of the cylinders, and its diameter substantially equal to the distance between the cylinder axes. The distributor of the turbine is divided by a diametral partition into two separate sectors of nozzles h, h<1>, each of which receives the exhaust gases from one cylinder only to avoid interference between the exhausts. The turbine drives a blower f disposed on the same or on the opposite side of the cylinders, and each blower may supply scavenging and supercharging air to the engine, e.g. to the two corresponding cylinders c, c<1>, with an arrangement to ensure the cylinders being charged at the same pressure. Specifications 182,786, [Class 7 (ii), Internal-combustion engines, Arrangement &c. of], 344,902, and 372,556 are referred to.
