Abstract
372,250. Looms with stationary weft supplies. GLEDHILL WEAVING MACHINE CO., Ltd., Station Street Buildings, Huddersfield, and GLEDHILL, W., Wellhouse, Holmfirth, near Huddersfield. Dec. 8, 1931, No. 33953. [Class 142 (ii).] Relates to looms wherein the weft is carried part way through the shed by a delivering gripper detachably mounted on a carrier bar and is then handed over to a receiving gripper which completes the laying of the pick, and wherein a series of delivering grippers corresponding to the number of wefts are mounted in compartments in a " shuttle-box " of which the vertical movement causes one of the grippers to be detached from the carrier bar and another to be connected thereto. The carrier bar e or a part f attached thereto is provided with a series of spring-pressed balls g or plungers arranged in alignment, whilst the gripper a, b is provided with a shank portion a3, one face of which is grooved or slotted to take over a vertical projection e<1> on the carrier bar, and the other face of which is provided with a series of spaced depressions a<5> into which the balls or plungers may enter to hold the shank pressed against the projection e<1>. The jaw a has a thread passage a<1> leading to a space d between the jaws, while the jaw b is held in the open or closed position by a spring-pressed ball d<1>, as usual.
