Abstract

744,491. Thread clamp for automatic looms. GLEDHILL, W. V., and CHAPPELL, A. June 30, 1954 [April 1, 1953; Feb. 15, 1954], Nos. 9006/53 and 4361/54. Class 142 (2). A thread clamp, mounted on the shuttle feeler to grip the weft extending from the selvedge to the spent shuttle, comprises jaws 3, 11 interconnected by a pin 14 and slot 13, so as to close when rearward movement of the shuttle feeler causes a heel 4 to be struck by the slay 5. The jaws may be interconnected by toothed sectors instead of as shown. The jaw 11 may have a hooked end to prevent an unduly slack weft from escaping before it is clamped.
