Abstract

369,490. Gas purifiers. BEUTHNER, K., 124, St. T÷niserstrasse, Krefeld, Germany. July 3, 1931, No. 19279. [Class 55 (ii).] A dry purifying tower for removing sulphuretted hydrogen and hydrocyanic acid from gases, in which the purifying mass is circulated from top to bottom of the tower, is combined with a grinding and centrifuging mill which breaks up the purifying material obta'ned from the bottom of the tower and projects it into the top of the tower for recirculation. A whirling stream of gas from an inlet 1 is mixed with the purifying material from a mill 5 in a tube 6, the mixture being then deflected into the purifier so that the purifying mass falls on the first of a number of gratings 8. When the latter are all filled an indicator 12 operates a motor 13 which through intermediate gearing rotates the supports of the bottom grating through 90‹ thus discharging its layer of material. These supports are then returned to the horizontal to be followed by the opening of the superimposed grating and so on up to the top grating. Uniform layers of material are ensured by levelling arms driven on an axle 10. The purifying material passes to an intermediate container 23 from which uniform quantities are projected into the conveyer 27 to be ground in the mill 5 before being recirculated in the tower. The purified gas leaves the tower at 20.
