367,567. Load engaging. SCHILL, L., P.O.B. 502, Haifa, Palestine. Feb. 23, 1931, No. 5677. [Class 78 (iv).] A grapple 10 for raising submarines and the like is provided with an electricallydriven traveller 8 runing on a cable 3 which is raised from the ship 1 by means of a buoy. The cable 3 is attached to a rope 7 on the floating pontoon 5, and the traveller 8 descends, taking with it a lifting-cable 9, until a feeler 11 strikes the submarine. The traveller comprises a submersible motor in a watertight enclosure, and the motor has a hollow shaft through which the cable 3 passes.
