Abstract
366,638. Securing rails &c. to sleepers &c. BATEMAN, H. M., Princes Street, Burwood, New South Wales, Australia. Nov. 29, 1930, No. 35979. [Class 104 (ii).] A device for securing rails or other articles in position comprises a flat or angle steel piece 10, provided with spaced holes 14 in which U-shaped steel bars 15 are adapted to be turned to wedge on the upper surface of the rail &c., and the under surface of the piece 10. As used for preventing creep of a rail 11, the piece 10 is shaped as shown in Fig. 3, the vertical face 12 abutting on a sleeper 13, while the horizontal face 10 is level with the top of the sleeper and receives the bars 15. The faces of the bars engaging the rail and piece 10 may be flattened, and the underface of the latter may be ridged, &c. where the bar engages it to improve the friction grip.
