Abstract

354,709. Sifting-apparatus. BROADHEAD, R. W., Dodona, The Avenue, Ashtonon-Mersey. April 8, 1930, No. 11117. [Class 117.] Apparatus for screening coal, coke, &c. consists of a number of bars a rotating in the same direction and of uniform cross section throughout their length. The bars may be of circular, elliptical, or other section. In the case of elliptical bars they are disposed with the longer axes of the adjacent bars at right-angles to one another so as to maintain the grading apertures substantially constant. The spindles of the bars are mounted in bearings b and are intergeared so as to rotate in the same direction, the driving means being enclosed in casings at the sides of the screen frame. According to the Provisional Specification the section of the bars may be square, hexagonal, cruciform, &c.
