303,970. Reid, W., Reid, R. H., und Reid, W. Aug. 23, 1928. Rotary sieves.-Apparatus for screening coal, sand, gravel &c. consists of rollers 10, with spindle ends 11 arranged parallel to each other between the periphery of rotating rings 6, 7 mounted on a. shaft 1 and stationary rings 8, 9. The spindles are provided with bushes 12, preferably of resilient material such as rubber, composition &c., and carry pinions 13, 15 gearing with internally and externally toothed wheels 14, 16 mounted respectively on the rings 6, 7, and 8, 9. The shaft 1 is driven and the difference in the pitch circle diameter of the wheels 14, 16 causes the rollers to rotate about their own axes and also travel around the track between the rings 6, 7, and 8, 9. The spacing of the rollers may be varied by releasing the means for securing the pinions 15 and rolling the pinions 13 on the wheels 14, the excess or deficiency of rollers in the adjusted arrangement being corrected by removing or adding rollers. A hollow structure consisting of end plates 18, 18<1>, secured to the shaft, and carrying a series of scoop plates 19 may be provided to distribute, the material over the screen surface.
