Abstract

352,481. Door fastenings. FURSE & CO., Ltd., W. J. and FURSE, H. J., Traffic Street, Nottingham. April 8, 1930, Nos. 11080 and 14109. [Class 44.] In an emergency exit or like door fastening released by pivotal movement of a bar or handle towards the door, the bevelled nose 3 of a vertically sliding latch bolt engages behind a slidable plate 4 having notches 4a which can be brought into register with the bolts to release them. The plate may be biased to locking position by a spring 21 and moved to release position by energizing a solenoid 19, or vice versa, so that releasing or locking the door may be controlled by a conveniently placed switch. In the latter case the doors may be closed by springs and the switch operated automatically to lock the doors when closed by the springs. The invention is described as applied to emergencies at fastenings in which the bolt 2 is shot by a spring 10 and is released by a push-bar G mounted on pivoted arms 7 one of which has an arm 7a engaging a slot 9 in the bolt. A projection 11 limits outward movement of the push-bar. In a modification, Fig. 5, the bolt is shot by springs 10a, 10b, and may be released by a push-bar arm 7a engaging slot 9 or by a follower 23 operated by a key inserted in a keyhole 22.
