Catches, automatic, for sliding doors.-Sliding door fastenings of the kind wherein a rotatable bar with a hook at one end and an oppositely directed hook at the other end engages a catchplate on the door frame in the closed or fully open position of the door, is provided with a handle for disengaging the hook so disposed with relation to the door-moving handle, that both operations can be effected with one hand. The. bar turns with the square spindle c<1> to release the hook d from the catch-plate e or the hook d<1> from a catch-plate on'the other door post, and the spindle c<1> is turned by pressing sideways on either of the handles g, g<1> with the thumb when the hand grips either of the handles b, b<1> for sliding the door into the open position. A coil spring f maintains the hooks in engaging position till the spindle is turned and the hooks are bevelled to enable them to engage the catch-plates automatically. An eccentric n, mounted in the same casing a as the hooks, can be turned by a square key to block the spindle c<1> against rotation.
