Abstract
328,482. Creser, A. A. T. May 30, 1929. Actuating pumps by foot power; oscillating- cylinder pumps. - In a lever-actuated foot pump for tyre inflation, a hollow piston f is pivoted to a base c and a reciprocating cylinder e is operated by levers a pivoted at b, the travel being limited by sleeve e<3> contacting the buffer g<1> and stop tube g. During suction, air is drawn in through the valve f<2> and on compression it is delivered through valve f<2> into the interior of the piston and thence through a coil of fine bore tubing i, to ensure a steady flow, to the tyre valve. The pressure is regulated by a valve n<3>, which is spring pressed into its seat, the compression of the spring n<1> being regulated by a rack m<1> and pinion m. The escape from the valve n<3> is led to an audible alarm such as a whistle q. Specifications 281,175 and 303,536, [Class 135, Valves &c.], are referred to.
