Abstract

314,336. Perrin, E. A. June 25, 1928, [Convention date]. Clutches, free-wheel.-The clutch member for driving an aircraft screw has an internal ring 80 of trapezoidal section adapted to be engaged by friction pawls 87 pivoted at 88 between flanges on a tubular extension 82 of the screw shaft. Springs 91 press the pawls into engagement with the ring so as to form a free-wheel clutch. Tail pieces 86 on the pawls are engaged by pins 85 sliding in holes in the extension 82, the inner ends of the pins being engaged by a cone 90 movable axially by a push rod to enable the clutch to be uncoupled.
