Belts. - V-belts for use with expanding-pulley variable-speed gearing have cross slats c of wood &c., faced with leather &c., secured to the undersides of two or more chains a, b by bolts d passing through links of the chains and through metal plates e seating upon the upper sides of the chains and preferably with edges e<1> turned over to embrace the ends of the links. The upper faces of the slats c conform to the surfaces of the links.
