Abstract

974,517. Pulley-gear chains. W. REIMERS. Aug. 31, 1961 [Sept. 2, 19601, No. 31315/61. Heading B8A. In a chain for use in an expanding pulley gear, the links each comprise a plurality of longitudinally disposed link plates and the outer plates 2, 3 of at least some of the links are joined by a bridging member 4. In Fig. 1, the plates 2, 3 and the bridging member 4 are made as a single frame piece 5 and the means for engaging the gear pulley cheeks are the ends of the pivot pins 1. In various alternative constructions (not shown) the frame 5 may extend completely around the inner plates of the link, and pulley cheek engaging members independent of the pivot pins may be carried by the links. In the form of Fig. 14, the outside link plates 17, 18 of every third link are joined by a bridging member (not shown), the intermediate links having unbridged plates which, however, are longitudinally staggered as shown to minimize the chain pitch.
