Signs. - Daylight reflector signs of the front stencil type have the reflector arranged at an angle greater that 45‹ and less than 90‹ and the plane joining the front edge of the light admission opening and the effective bottom edge of the reflector lying at approximately the same or at a rather greater angle to the plane of the reflector than the angle between the reflector and the horizontal so as to admit all light capable of falling upon the reflector for reflection upon a horizontal or substantially horizontal line of sight. The light c, d, Fig. 2 falling upon the reflector b for horizontal reflection passes through a vertical stencil a or an inclined stencil a', the top of which does not obstruct the incident beam. A flat bottomed casing 1, Fig. 4, may be used having a translucent mirror 7 behind which is arranged a lamp 8 for artificial illumination, the stencil 6 being forwardly inclined. A duplex sign has oppositely inclined translucent reflectors 7, Fig. 5, the lamp 8 being arranged between them and the stencils 6 forming the sides of the casing. The reflector may be extended upwardly and the upper edge of the stencil be masked to give full illumination of the stencil for an upwardly inclined line of sight.
