Abstract
193,109. British Thomson - Houston Co., Ltd., and Millner, W. Nov. 9, 1921. Lamps forming line of light. - Electric-lamp reflector fittings of inverted channel or other similar sections used, at an angle of less than 90‹ with the surface, to illuminate from above long flat surfaces, such as pictures, hoardings, &c., have arranged therein, between the centre line of the channel and the side thereof nearer to the surface to be illuminated, and approximately parallel to the reflected rays, one or more strips of a diffusing medium, and, on the other side of the channel, one or more opaque strips the surfaces of which, on the side next the surface to be illuminated, may be reflecting. In one form the light source 1 is located in a trough-shaped metal casing 2, and has a channel-shaped parabolic mirror 3 of fairly long focal length behind it, with two sections 4, 4<a> of a similar mirror of shorter focal length, and displaced in the axial plane in relation to the first mirror, one on each side of it. Light passing between the mirrors 3, 4 illuminates a transparency 8 for advertising mounted on the casing 2.
