Abstract
529,830. Illuminating pictures. HOARE, R. R. June 9, 1939, No. 16913. [Class 11] [Also in Groups XI and XVIII] A lighting system for surfaces such as pictures, transparencies, signs and other objects comprises a source of light combined with a lens or refractor system at one end of the surface arranged to project part of the light rays on to the surface and part on to a strip mirror arranged at the opposite end of the surface for redirecting the light on to the surface. As shown, rays from a lamp e with reflector f pass through a lens g on to a mirror h and are reflected through a slot d in the picture frame b partly or .to the picture a and partly on to a strip mirror c by which they are redirected on to the picture. Strip mirrors may also be arranged at the side edges of the picture. The mirror h may be dispensed with and the light source and lens may be arranged directly above the slot d. In another arrangement the light source may be at a distance and directed on to mirrors from which the rays pass through the slot d. Specification 503,300 and 504,027 are referred to.
