Abstract

299,816. Collie, J. H. July 18, 1927. Charge indicators.-Relates to hydrometers for electric accumulators, of the kind in which a vessel c containing specific-gravity balls c<6> and provided with a bulb c<4> for withdrawing electrolite from the accumulators is fitted to the accumulator so that it can be left permanently in position. According to the invention the hydrometer is provided with a shank c<2> dipping into the electrolite and so drawn as to provide a narrow transverse slot c<3>, Fig. 4, at the lower end of the vessel c so as to prevent the balls c<6> from escaping. The hydrometer is preferably mounted in an adapter b which fits the vent aperture, the adapter having a partition b<4> on which the hydrometer rests, and being provided with apertures b', b<3>, b<5> for the escape of gas.
