Abstract

284,916. Linebarger, C. E. May 27, 1927. Charge indicators. - A hydrometer for a storage battery is suspended from the vent plug of the cell in such a way that its height can be readily adjusted. In Fig. 1 the plug 11 is provided with a baffle plate 13 over which is hooked one end of the celluloid &c. support 14 for the hydrometer tube 10. The other end 15 of the support passes into the hydrometer tube and is bent up so as to bear on the tube and hold it at any desired height. The tube 10 may be formed with a lip 17 so that it will not fall off its support. An aperture 18 admits electrolyte to the tube 10 which contains the usual hydrometric balls. The tube 10 may be elbowed so that it will tend to tilt and thus increase the pressure on the hook 15. In another form the support 14 is corrugated.
