Abstract
320,026. Washington, D. E. March 31, 1928. Devices for filling batteries with electrolyte; gas exits.-A device for maintaining the liquid in a storage battery at the correct level consists of an inverted receptacle containing liquid and dipping into the liquid in the battery, the receptacle having an integral neck which fits the filling aperture of the battery. Fig. 1 shows a form in ' which the receptacle A is provided with a neck B which fits into the filling aperture of the battery. Fig. 2 shows a modification in which the receptacle A fits in an adapter 0 which screws into an opening in the battery. Openings Hand a groove G are provided for the escape of gas. Fig. 3 shows a further modification in which the receptacle A is provided with a gas vent 9. 'The vent may alternatively be formed in an adapter which screws into the filling aperture of the battery and which receives the receptacle A frictionally. The Provisional Specification describes a modification in which the receptacle A is placed at a distance from the battery and is connected therewith by a tube which dips just below the liquid in the battery.
