Abstract

297,582. Siemens Bros. & Co., Ltd., and Hubbard, E. R. Oct. 12, 1927, Air-space cables. - The core of an air-space cable is centred in a paper wrapping by providing the wrapping with grooves, preferably formed by passing the paper through intermeshing grooved rollers which are mounted on the wrapping machine. Fig. 2 shows the grooved paper wrapping 1 on a core 2. The grooving rollers 7, Fig. 4, are mounted on a fork 6 carried by the bar 4 of a hollow spindle 5 of a wrapping machine. The core to be wrapped passes through the spindle 5 from below, and the wrapping 1 passes from the roll 9 round a guide 10 and through a slotted tongue 12 carried by the fork 6.
