Cores, covering by winding. - In a machine for winding tape and like coverings on to cores such as electric conductors, and of the type wherein a number-of rolls of covering material are carried bodily around the core, the axes of the rolls 4 are parallel to the core 1 and the covering material 5 approaches the core at right angles, but passes beyond the core and is then doubled back upon itself around a guide rod 9 disposed at an angle so that the doubled-back part of the covering material is presented to the core at the correct angle. The length of unsupported covering material is thus reduced.
