Abstract

293,192. Hargreaves, W. June 28, 1927. Knobs and handles, attaching.-The knob A of a door &c. handle is secured to the square spindle B by means of a plate C having a slot c through which the spindle passes, the plate being urged by a spring c<1> so that the edge c<3> of the slot engages one or other of a number of serrations provided on one face of the spindle. The plate is housed in a flanged fitting D secured to the knob by screws d<1> or by spinning the flange of the portion E of the knob, and release is effected by inserting a suitable implement through an aperture d<3> to depress the plate against the action of the spring and disengage the edge c<3> from the serration. A further flanged fitting F may be secured to the door and surrounding the fitting D, fitting F having an aperture (not shown) normally out of register with aperture d<3>, but through which the releasing implement can be inserted when the two apertures are brought into register.
