Abstract
554,179. Attaching knobs to spindles. SPARKS, W., and TONKS (BIRMINGHAM), Ltd. May 18, 1942, No. 6724. [Class 44] In a door knob of the kind adjustably screwed on to a square latch &c. spindle b and held in adjusted position by a U-shaped key d embracing the spindle and engaged in a slot in the handle, the key is a bent metal strip of width approximately equal to the depth of the slot c which extends inwards from the inner end face of the knob a and is of uniform width. To prevent abrasion of the door by the key a metal plate g with hole to allow passage of the spindle is secured to the door. The key is retained in place in slot c by the rose-plate e.
