Abstract

290,307. Boyd, J. H. C. Nov. 9, 1926. Disc and like plate hinges; pivot pins.-Fig. 6 shows a pivot pin used in a pair of scissors having detachable blades 15, 15a carried by the usual hand-operated lever members 12, 13. The pin has a cylindrical portion 21 engaging apertures in the carrier 12 and blades 15, 15a, and a threaded extension screwed into carrier 13 which may be locally thickened. The pin portion 21 has a chamfered entry edge 23, a head with projections or castellations 24 to allow rotation by means of a coin, knife blade &c. and bears against a spring washer 26 housed in a recess in carrier 13.
